Life In A Metro Movie Access

The subplot involving Ranjeet (Irrfan Khan) and Shruti (Konkona Sen Sharma) provides the film’s necessary comic relief, but it is also its most incisive social commentary. Ranjeet is the archetype of the "clueless bachelor," a man whose desperation is masked by a lack of social grace. Shruti, a virgin at 28, is battling societal pressure and the fear of being left behind. Konkona Sen Sharma is brilliant as the ordinary girl next door, and Irrfan Khan steals every scene he is in. Their eventual union is not a fairytale ending, but a realistic compromise—two lonely people finding comfort in each other’s absurdity.
