A standard player uses turnips to zone or edge-guard. Daisy Destruicao uses them as a psychological weapon. The player will pull a turnip, hold it for exactly 2.7 seconds (creating suspense), and then either throw it down at a 45-degree angle or, surprisingly, not throw it at all , opting instead for a dash attack while the opponent is locked in shield-stun anticipation.

Think early ’80s UK hardcore meets Brazilian garagem suja. Blast beats, razor-sharp guitar riffs, vocals that sound like they’re recorded through a busted telephone in a sweaty basement. Their songs rarely crack the two-minute mark, but in that time, they manage to tackle everything from social hypocrisy to police violence to personal alienation.

Losing by a stock in the final minute of a tournament grand finals, the Daisy Destruicao player did the unthinkable. She grabbed her opponent at the edge of the stage and initiated Daisy’s side special (the bomber dash) directly off the ledge. Both characters plummeted to the blast zone. Because Daisy was at a higher damage percentage, she died first on the game’s internal clock—but due to a network lag spike, the server registered the opponent as the loser. The player advanced to the next round. The rulebook was burned.
