The game takes place before the events of the original Ratchet and Clank, and follows the adventures of the titular duo as they investigate a series of mysterious disappearances on a remote planet. As Ratchet and Clank soon discover, the disappearances are the work of a new villain, Doctor Nefarious, who has created an army of robotic minions to carry out his evil plans. With the help of a new gadget, the "Growth Pod", Ratchet and Clank must navigate through treacherous terrain, battle fearsome enemies, and solve puzzles to stop Doctor Nefarious and his accomplices.
