The Merc with a Mouth played by Ryan Reynolds exists in the same universe but operates alone. The Deadpool films are meta, profane, and hilarious. They don't care about the timeline, which is refreshing. Deadpool 2 introduced Cable and the X-Force (in the most hilarious sequence ever filmed). A misfire. This solo outing for Jackman’s character attempted to explain Wolverine’s past, including the infamous "Deadpool" with sewn-shut mouths. From Bryan Singer’s leather suits to James Mangold’s neo-Western Logan – the franchise dared to be different. They don't care about the timeline, which is refreshing

While it made money, it nearly killed the franchise's credibility.
