Following the "Battle of New York," S.H.I.E.L.D. recovers nearly all alien artifacts except for one: a functioning labeled "Item 47". A down-on-their-luck couple, Benny and Claire, find the weapon and use it to embark on a bank-robbing spree. Agents Jasper Sitwell and Felix Blake are dispatched to "neutralize" the couple and retrieve the tech.

Instead of turning it in, they become a Bonnie-and-Clyde duo, robbing banks. S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernández) is tasked with neutralizing them. However, instead of jail, Sitwell offers them a choice: Work for S.H.I.E.L.D. as assets. Benny becomes a tech consultant; Claire becomes a field agent (Agent Blake).
