Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore) is a poor but kind-hearted boy living in a tiny, crooked house with his parents and four bedridden grandparents (Grandpa Joe, Grandma Josephine, Grandpa George, and Grandma Georgina). The family survives on cabbage soup and lives in the shadow of the mysterious Wonka Chocolate Factory, which has been closed for years.
