If you are restoring an E31 850i, E36 M3, Z3, or E53 X5 4.6is, the solution is the single most powerful diagnostic tool you can own. It costs nothing (assuming you have a $20 K+DCAN cable and a laptop), and it tells you exactly what the factory technician saw 20 years ago.

You cannot install DIS v57 natively on Windows 10 or Windows 11. The original DIS ran on a modified Unix-based operating system (SCO Unix or a custom BMW Linux build). Attempting to install it on a modern hard drive is a recipe for driver hell.
