Solved: Catalogs and Specs - Best practices - Forums, Autodesk
For this tutorial, we will assume you need to create a new spec for using ASME B16.5 150# Flanges .
A common mistake is adding a component without specifying which sizes are allowed. If you add a 6-inch flange but your pipe is 4 inches, CADWorx will ignore the flange.
Before adding components, define the default behaviors.
| Problem | Most Likely Cause | Solution | |---------|------------------|----------| | “Component not found” when modeling | Component in catalog but not in your spec | Add it via Spec Editor. | | Wrong gasket appears on isometric | Bolt/gasket connection logic not set | Define mating components in bolt/gasket properties. | | Pipe size 10″ shows up but no fittings | Size range missing for fittings | Edit fitting’s Available Sizes to include 10″. | | Spec Editor crashes on open | Corrupted catalog path | Go to Tools → Options → Reset Catalog Path. | | Insulation doesn’t show in 3D | Insulation thickness = 0 in spec | Set insulation thickness in component’s Insulation tab. |
