The MiFi 8000 can update in two ways: over-the-air (OTA) via the cellular network or via a wired connection. If updating OTA, ensure you are in an area with a strong, stable cellular signal. Do not attempt a firmware update while driving through a tunnel or a dead zone. mifi 8000 firmware update

To initiate a manual update or check for one, you will need to access the Admin Interface (often called the Web UI). The default password is usually printed on the bottom of the device under the battery (or on the label).
