The plot follows master explorer and former Navy SEAL (Matthew McConaughey) and his wisecracking sidekick Al Giordino (Steve Zahn). After discovering a rare Confederate gold coin in the Niger River, Dirk becomes convinced that the CSS Texas , a lost American Civil War ironclad rumored to be carrying a fortune in gold, is buried somewhere beneath the sands of the West African desert.
