This is the most common risk. Malicious actors take a legitimate Facebook APK, inject it with a virus or spyware (often a Remote Access Trojan or RAT), and repackage it. When a user installs "Facebook Mod v10.0," they are unknowingly giving a hacker full access to their phone.
When a modified APK sends unusual data, Facebook flags it as a "compromised client." Within 24 to 72 hours, you will receive a notification stating: "Your account has been suspended for using a unauthorized version of Facebook." Appeals almost never succeed because the violation is technical and undeniable.
Many of these unauthorized apps look identical to the real Facebook app. However, when you log in, your credentials are sent not to Meta’s servers, but to a hacker-controlled server.
