The story follows , who receives a coded distress signal from his long-lost grandfather, Alexander Anderson. Sean's new stepfather, Hank , helps him decode the message, which suggests that the "Mysterious Island" described by Jules Verne, Jonathan Swift, and Robert Louis Stevenson is real. Together with a local helicopter pilot, Gabato , and his daughter, Kailani , they travel to the South Pacific, where they crash-land on a beautiful but dangerous island.
