Tom Hardy, Steven Knight, and Ridley Scott (an executive producer) have repeatedly confirmed that scripts exist. Knight has stated that the second season will move the action from London to the "new frontier" of America.

To appreciate the , you have to remember the TV landscape of that year. Game of Thrones was at its peak popularity but slipping into fan-service territory. The Crown offered sanitized history. Peaky Blinders was stylish but accessible.
