The production of the film was almost as turbulent as the story it told. Alan Parker, the acclaimed director of Midnight Express and Fame , was hired to direct, but his realistic, gritty style clashed with Roger Waters’ abstract, symbolic approach. Bob Geldof, the Irish musician cast in the lead role of Pink (famously missing a piece of his eyebrow from a childhood accident), described the shoot as "the most miserable experience of my life."
The film follows Pink, a jaded rock musician, who isolates himself in a Los Angeles hotel room while on tour. Through a non-linear, hallucinatory narrative, we witness the bricks of his metaphorical “wall” being laid: pink floyd the wall movie
