Released originally in late 2004 / early 2005, Lightwave 8.5 represents the end of an era . It was the last version before NewTek began the long, painful migration toward a unified interface (which would eventually arrive in version 9). For purists, 8.5 is the peak of the "classic" Lightwave layout:
