The German translation famously handled the Statler and Waldorf balcony hecklers with extreme precision. In English, they are cynical. In German, they are gallig (bile-filled) and their "Witze" (jokes) are delivered with a dry, Austrian-inflected cruelty that resonates deeply with German cabaret traditions.

The 2015 mockumentary series, simply titled The Muppets (or Die Muppets in DEU), debuted on the German network ProSieben in 2016 before moving to streaming. the muppets deu
