Mobile technology has fundamentally transformed the initiation, maintenance, and representation of romantic relationships. This report examines two interconnected phenomena: (1) (real-life romantic connections sustained or begun via mobile devices) and (2) mobile-facilitated romantic storylines (fictional romance narratives delivered through mobile-first platforms such as apps, chat fiction, and interactive games). The convergence of ubiquitous connectivity and narrative gamification has created new social norms, emotional economies, and commercial genres. Key findings indicate that while mobile platforms democratize romantic access and self-expression, they also introduce unique vulnerabilities including accelerated intimacy, algorithmic curation of emotion, and parasocial attachment to fictional characters.
