Windows Data Access Components (WDAC) 6.0+ is newer and supersedes MDAC 2.8. Fix: Do not downgrade. Instead, use the "Reference" in your project to point to the existing ADO version (typically 6.1 or 2.8 is aliased). In code, you can use late binding:
