The success of the TV series led to the creation of the first SpongeBob feature film, "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie," released in 2004. Directed by Hillenburg himself, the movie takes the characters on an epic journey to retrieve King Neptune's crown, which has been stolen by Plankton, the owner of the Chum Bucket restaurant. The film features an all-star voice cast, including Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), and Rodger Bumpass (Squidward).
