Solid Edge Material Table -
At its core, the Solid Edge Material Table is a database library. It stores a collection of material definitions that can be applied to parts and sheet metal documents. When you apply a material to a part, you are essentially linking that geometry to a specific set of physical properties defined in a material file (typically with an .mtl extension).
The Material Table does not just assign a name; it governs six distinct categories of data: solid edge material table
The material table is the undisputed king of FEA accuracy in Solid Edge Simulation (formerly Femap). If you run a simulation without checking the Material Table, your results are fiction. At its core, the Solid Edge Material Table
When you open the full Material Table dialog, you are presented with a split view. On the left is the (the master database of available materials), and on the right is the Current Document (materials currently used or cached in your specific part file). The Material Table does not just assign a
| Problem | Solution | |---------|----------| | Material not showing in BOM | Ensure part has material assigned; Refresh BOM; Check column mapping. | | Mass is zero | Go to → Material → Physical Properties → Update . | | Cannot edit material | The material is from a read-only database. Copy it to a writable custom database first. | | Units wrong | Change part units first, then assign material. |
