Basara’s journey is one of synthesis. In earlier seasons, he juggled his heroic morality with demonic pragmatism. In Departures , he breaks the mold entirely. He stops caring about the rules of the human world or the hero clan. His sole focus is his family. When faced with the choice to save the world or save Mio, he chooses Mio without hesitation. This OVA cements Basara as one of the most decisive (and therefore effective) ecchi protagonists in history.
