The story follows a now-adult Cathy Dollanganger (played with fierce intensity by Rose McIver, replacing Kiernan Shipka) and her brother Christopher (Wyatt Nash). Having escaped their grandparents’ hellish mansion, they attempt to build normal lives in Virginia. However, the past is not easily buried. Cathy becomes a ballerina while plotting a twisted, years-long revenge against her mother, Corrine (Heather Graham), who poisoned and betrayed them.
The story finds the surviving siblings— (Rose McIver), Christopher (Wyatt Nash), and Carrie (Bailey Buntain)—attempting to forge new lives in the wake of their traumatic childhood. Despite the passage of time, they remain haunted by the death of their brother Cory and the betrayal of their mother, Corrine (Heather Graham).
