Based on the analysis of the Indonesian education system and school life, we recommend:
Indonesian education system is the fourth largest in the world, serving over 50 million students across more than 300,000 schools. Managed primarily by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), the system is undergoing a massive transformation under the (Freedom to Learn) initiative, which moves away from rigid rote learning toward a student-centered, competency-based model. Until very recently, Pramuka was mandatory for all students. It teaches survival skills, leadership, teamwork, and community service. Students learn to tie knots, pitch tents, cook over campfires, and perform rescue drills. Even though it’s now optional, over 90% of schools still enforce it due to its cultural weight.
