Covering the first 50 lessons, this phase asks you to simply listen, read, and understand the dialogues. You are encouraged not to worry about complex grammar rules yet, but rather to "soak up" the sounds and structures of the language.

If you search for on Google, you will find many shady websites. Avoid them. The files are often missing pages or have poor OCR (Optical Character Recognition) that ruins the umlauts (ä, ö, ü).

The course is widely considered one of the most effective self-study methods for beginners. Originally developed in France as "New German with Ease" (or L'Allemand sans peine ), this program uses a unique principle of "intuitive assimilation" to help learners reach a functional level of German (CEFR B2) through natural exposure rather than rote memorization.

Using the Assimil PDF without audio reduces the method to a reading-only translation exercise – no better than a free phrasebook.

A standalone pirated PDF is not equivalent to the official course.

For the first ~50 lessons, you simply listen, read, and repeat. You don't try to construct your own sentences yet; the goal is to get used to the sounds and rhythm of German. The Active Phase:
