In many other traditions, Shraddha is performed with a sense of fear or obligation to appease spirits. However, in Sri Vaishnava Shraddha Prayoga, the approach is rooted in Seshatvam (being a servant of the Lord). The food is first offered to the Archirvibhuti (the Lord in his glorious form) and then dedicated to the Pitrus. Thus, the performer is essentially performing a Yajna (sacrifice) where the ultimate enjoyer is Sriman Narayana.
