Understanding & Fixing the "Out of Memory" Error in iGO Primo The "Out of Memory" error in iGO Primo is a common but frustrating issue. It does not usually mean your device's storage is full. Instead, it means the app has run out of the available RAM (Random Access Memory) it needs to process data, typically when loading a map, a route, or a complex POI set. Common Causes
Too many map files loaded: Activating too many detailed maps (e.g., whole Europe + all local city maps) at once. Corrupted save data: A damaged save folder containing your routes, favorites, or history. Large building files ( .3dl / .3dc ): High-detail 3D landmark or terrain models consume significant RAM. Overly detailed POI files: Custom .poi files with thousands of entries or large icons. Insufficient device RAM: iGO Primo needs roughly 128-256MB of free RAM. Older WinCE or low-end Android units struggle.
How to Fix It (Step by Step) Try these solutions in order. Always back up your save folder before making changes. 1. Simplify your loaded maps
Go to Settings → Map → Map Settings (or Manage Maps ). Disable any map you don't actively need. For example, if driving in France, disable Spain, Germany, Italy, etc. Keep only one detailed map plus the base map active. igo primo out of memory error
2. Delete corrupted save data (most effective fix)
Using a file manager, navigate to the iGO Primo folder (usually iGO or Primo ). Rename or delete the save folder. Restart iGO. It will create a fresh save folder. (You will lose favorites/history, but the error should stop.)
3. Disable 3D buildings / Terrain
Go to Settings → Map → 3D Settings . Set "Buildings" to "Off" or "Landmarks Only" . Set "Terrain" to "Off" .
4. Reduce POI display
Go to Settings → Map → POI Settings . Set "POI Visibility" to "None" or only the 2-3 most essential categories. Understanding & Fixing the "Out of Memory" Error
5. Clear cache and temporary files
Inside the iGO folder, delete the dem (digital elevation model) and tmp folders if they exist. They will be recreated.
