Green Zone Free Review
This "bubble" effect created a dangerous echo chamber. Critics argued that life in the Green Zone led to a failure of imagination among policymakers. Decisions regarding the governance of Iraq were often made by individuals who had never walked through a Baghdad market or spoken to an Iraqi civilian without an interpreter. The surreal nature of the zone—where one could eat a Whopper while mortars landed a mile away—became a symbol of the war’s detachment.
The Iraqi government is currently investing in turning the former palaces into museums and public parks. The goal is to reclaim the waterfront of the Tigris. If successful, the could transform from a symbol of occupation into a national heritage site—a "Central Park" for Baghdad. Green Zone
