You cannot write a proposal without establishing hierarchy. In English, we call everyone "Mr. Smith." In Khmer, you must age the person. Bang (older sibling) for a peer, Pa (aunt) or Ming (uncle) for an elder. If you write "Dear Mr. Sophea," you sound like a robot. If you write "Dear Bang Sophea," you sound like a nephew who cares. The deal lives or dies on that suffix.
