A dark sorcerer, named Malakai, had risen to power, seeking to conquer and destroy the kingdom. The Royal Guards, led by their commander, Sir Valoric, rallied against the sorcerer's armies.

Before each major battle, Yukari can brew tea. Different blends provide buffs (defense, speed, etc.), but more importantly, each tea type triggers a unique flashback. The Earl Grey – Cinnamon Infusion flashback reveals why the Captain of the Guard gave her a second chance. The Lapsang Souchong flashback shows her first kill—made in defense of a child.
