The BeatLock engine is the beating heart of Virtual DJ. Even in version 7.4.7, the beat detection algorithms were sophisticated. It automatically analyzes the BPM (Beats Per Minute) and key of a track, allowing the DJ to sync two songs with a single click. While purists argue that this "cheats" the skill of manual beatmatching, it allowed beginners to focus on phrase matching and track selection much earlier in their learning curve.
