The Re Up takes place during Nicole’s sophomore year, a full year before the events of the first game. On the surface, this seems like a simple origin story. We get to see how Nicole became the dead-eyed, manipulative queen of social demolition she is by junior year. But the game cleverly subverts expectations. While we witness the seeds of her cynicism, she’s already 90% of the way there.
