Collectors now pay absurd prices on eBay for unused DLC codes (most of which are expired). A sealed copy of Undercover with a "Best Buy DBS code" sticker can fetch $150+ – not because the game is good, but because the DLC is lost history.
If you are a casual player: Just play Most Wanted (2005) or Hot Pursuit (2010). But if you insist on playing Undercover in 2025, hunt down a used Xbox 360 copy and pray the previous owner bought the Ultimate Performance Pack. Otherwise, you're stuck with the base game – and trust us, the base game has aged like milk.
This pack was never released in the West due to licensing disputes. Emulation communities have since ripped these assets, but officially, they are gone.
The game's focus on open-world exploration, racing, and vehicle customization has also influenced other racing games, such as the Burnout and Forza series. The game's success has also led to the creation of new racing games, which have built upon the foundations laid by Need for Speed: Undercover.
If you’re replaying Undercover on Xbox 360 or PS3 today (and can still access the old storefronts), grab the Boost Pack and the Audi R8. Skip the rest unless you’re a completionist. And maybe turn down your expectations—just like the base game, the DLC is best enjoyed with a lead foot and a forgiving mindset.
January 2009 Price: $1.99 for "Performance Boost" / $0.99 for "Cash Boost"
