South | Frick

South Frick is not for the casual stroller pushing a stroller, and that is exactly its appeal. In a city defined by its steep hills and industrial grit, South Frick offers a raw, untamed natural experience less than 15 minutes from downtown. It is where Pittsburghers go to feel lost without being lost.

Residents of the adjacent Southampton Place and West University Place have formed an opposition group called "Save Our South Frick." Their primary complaint is traffic. Fannin Street already handles 45,000 cars per day. With the addition of 2,500 residential units and 500,000 sq ft of retail, they fear a gridlock catastrophe. METRO has pledged to increase frequency on the Red Line light rail (which runs directly through South Frick), but opponents argue that rail capacity is already maxed out during rush hour. south frick
