Why balenaEtcher?

Here at balena we have thousands of users working through our getting started process, we found there was no easy way for our users to flash an SD card that we could recommend to everyone.

So we built Etcher, an SD card flasher app that is simple for end users, extensible for developers, and works on any platform.

Over time, the software evolved into a full-fledged launcher, now capable of selling games directly, cloud-saving progress, and managing a library of Rockstar titles. However, older games like GTA IV , Max Payne 3 , and L.A. Noire relied on older, standalone DLL files and versions—such as —to function correctly.

Software updates are primarily released to patch security holes. Version 1.1.6.8 is several years old.
